The Power of the Media!!!!

After watching a video on TikTok, something clicked for me—it confirmed a feeling I’ve been carrying for a while:

We’ve allowed social media to put us in a place of absence.

I’ve noticed it in so many areas of life. I can be out eating with friends, and instead of enjoying the moment, we’re all on our phones. I’ve been in conversations where I’m talking, and the other person is scrolling while I speak. And yes—there have even been times when my own children are calling my name, and I tune them out because I’m caught up in watching videos.

We’re at work, spending 85% of our shift not working. We’re in trainings, meetings, and at our kids’ games—but we’re not present. I’ve even seen it in the most unexpected places: the club… church… the grocery store line… y’all still scrolling!

  • 'Let’s be real—we’re not fully present.

  • Not with those we love.

  • Not in the moment.

  • Not even with ourselves.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking social media. This space can absolutely build you—if you use it with purpose. But too many of us are letting it break us.

We’re comparing. We’re consumed. We’re disconnected from reality and distracted from purpose.

And while we’re out here stuck in scroll mode, let’s not forget:

These influencers? They’re getting paid. They’re building their brands, their businesses, their legacies.

So, let me ask you: What are you building?

It’s time to get intentional.

Be present.

Be aware.

Build your life—not just your feed.

Social media doesn’t have to be the enemy, but it should never be the reason you miss out on real life. Legacy isn’t made through likes—it’s made through living.

Take the time to focus on building you.

The world needs what you carry—but you can’t release it if you’re always distracted by everyone else’s highlight reel.
